What Familiarity Hides

During a visit to a client's cannabis grow room in Puerto Rico, I noticed several plants with leaves curling upward, a condition growers call "taco-ing" or "canoeing." I'd seen it before, but what caught my attention was how sporadically the symptoms appeared, without any obvious pattern. It made me wonder how long they'd been there. Even experienced growers can overlook subtle changes when they're immersed in daily production and putting out fires. Sometimes it takes a fresh set of eyes to notice what's become part of the scenery.

The lesson? Familiarity can create blind spots, even among the most capable teams. An outside perspective, even a brief one, can reveal what daily routines make hard to see.
